The Mild and Enjoyable Climate of Lima

August 20th, 2008 · No Comments

One of the greatest things about studying Spanish in Lima Peru is the mild climate. Lima has a beautiful year round climate which rarely reaches temperatures below 55 Fahrenheit (12 Celsius) or above 90 Fahrenheit (30 Celsius). If it is rain you are looking for then I would not suggest learning Spanish in Lima, with only .3 inches (.7cm) of average rainfall ever year Lima has the lowest average of any metropolitan city. Spanish immersion in Peru is an excellent option with a climate like this.

A very unique aspect of Lima’s climate is the surf that can be found. After Spanish classes in Lima it is recommended to go to the beach and relax in the summer or practice your surfing which can be done year round. In fact San Bartolo near Lima is one of the only places in the world where good surf can be found throughout the entire year. Spanish language courses in Lima give the opportunity for students to experience many aspects of Peruvian life such as its unique surf culture that has developed and a historical prospective provided by the locals.

If you want to get away from the beach, and learn Spanish in Lima outside the classroom while experiencing some of the more refined aspects of Lima’s culture visit the many fascinating and beautiful museums the city has to offer. One of the most interesting museums to visit during Spanish immersion courses in Peru is the Museum of Anthropology and Archeology. Located in Plaza Bolivar it has an incredible compilation of pottery and textiles from ancient Peruvian culture. For a national perspective of Peru while studying Spanish in lima visit the Museum of the Nation where you can find ceramic exhibitions, replicas of the main archaeological sites of Peru, dioramas, paintings, and other diverse collections that represent the development of old Peru spread out through the immense four story museum.
